Microblading Touch Up: How Often Will You Really Need This

So you’ve gotten your microblading done, and your eyebrows look absolutely perfect. Now you’re wondering: how long is this going to last?

Will I need to keep running back to your technician every month, or can I coast for a while? Here’s the real breakdown of what you should expect when it comes to microblading touch-ups.

8 Weeks: Your First Touch-Up

About six to eight weeks after your initial microblading appointment, you’ll need to schedule your first touch-up. This isn’t optional.

It’s actually a crucial part of the microblading process. Your skin is naturally shedding and healing during those first weeks, which means some of the pigment will fade. Our aesthetic consultant needs to see how your skin responded to the treatment and address any areas that didn’t respond as well as hoped.

Think of it as the fine-tuning appointment. Could be that the color needs to be darker, or the shape needs a tiny tweak. This is your chance to get everything exactly how you want it before the pigment fully sets. Most aftercare issues also come up around this time, so your technician can address any concerns.

6 Months: When Fading Becomes Noticeable

By the six-month mark, you might start to notice that your microblading isn’t as crisp as it was right after your touch-up. This is normal and expected.

Your skin is constantly regenerating, and pigment naturally breaks down over time. Not everyone needs another full touch-up appointment at six months. Some people do, depending on their skin type, sun exposure, and how well they’ve been following aftercare instructions.

If you have oily skin, you’ll probably see fading a bit faster. If you spend a lot of time in the sun (hello, Miami!), that’ll accelerate fading too. Our aesthetic consultants will tell you if you need a touch-up at this point or if you can wait a bit longer.

1 Year: Your Maintenance Appointment Window

By one year, most people definitely need a touch-up. This is typically when the pigment has faded enough that your brows start looking less defined. The lines aren’t as sharp, and the color won’t be as vibrant as it was in the beginning. This is your regular maintenance appointment. Depending on your skin and lifestyle, you might need to come back every 12 to 18 months to keep your microblading looking fresh. Some clients come annually because they want that pristine look, while others stretch it to 18 months and can live with a softer appearance. The choice is yours.

Without touch-ups, your microblading will eventually fade completely, usually within 2 to 3 years.

Your microblading touch-up schedule isn’t one-size-fits-all. You need your first touch-up around 8 weeks; you might need one around 6 months, depending on your skin, and you’ll definitely want to maintain it annually or every 18 months after that.
